It’s good to see that this terrific Swedish pop band are back. After nearly two decades away the band released a few singles a couple of years ago and then released their comeback full-length, Kristina in 2016 (on Labrador in Sweden and released on Shelflife over here…the record was named in honor of band member Kristina Borg). Only four songs on this EP, but in classic RSB style the band, Niklas Angergard, Mikael Matsson and Borg, seemingly don’t know how to write a bad song. What you get are jangly guitars, dreamy vocals, a drum machine and lots of synthesizer (melody, too). The title track opens up the record and it’s a superb pop tune but even better is “Falling Out of Love” (sung by Borg) which is pure, delightful bounce as is the even catchier “Just for Fun” (sung by Angergard). The record ends with “Tonight Tonight Tonight”, a slower, more pensive number perhaps with an ABBA influence (the originators of Swedish pop, right?). The title track will be on the band’s forthcoming album while the other three are exclusive and hey, I forgot to mention that it’s great to see the Sunday Records label back and active again. I have several problems with a member of this band, so I'm disinclined to like this album. However, exceptional music speaks for itself, and this album really is exceptional, from the guitar work to the vocals to the production. As painful as it is for me to write these words, this is among the best releases of the year and firmly belongs in the collection of anyone who cares about contemporary indiepop. Michael Feck
